India Barnhill
India Barnhill is a warm, thoughtful, and collaborative provisional psychologist who is passionate about supporting adolescents and young adults through periods of growth, change, and transition. She takes a strengths-based, neuroaffirming approach and values creating a safe, respectful, and validating therapeutic space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. India tailors her work to each client’s unique experiences and goals, drawing on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and emotional regulation frameworks.
India has a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults, supporting them as they navigate the social, emotional, academic, and identity-related challenges that commonly arise during these developmental stages. She enjoys working with clients experiencing school and study-related stress, exam pressure, motivation difficulties, and transitions such as moving into high school, completing secondary education, commencing university or TAFE, and entering the workforce. India also supports clients adjusting to change more broadly, including changes in family dynamics, friendship groups, relationships, and life roles.
India has a strong interest in supporting neurodivergent adolescents and young adults, including individuals with ADHD and Autism. She works collaboratively with clients to build self-understanding, confidence, and practical coping strategies, while supporting emotional regulation, executive functioning, and self-advocacy skills. India is particularly mindful of the impact that stress, burnout, and repeated invalidation can have on young people, and strives to help clients develop sustainable strategies to manage overwhelm and build resilience.
Alongside her therapeutic work, India has experience supporting comprehensive psychological assessments, including ADHD, Autism, cognitive, and learning assessments. Through her work as a psychologist assistant and client care team member, she has developed a strong understanding of assessment processes, psychometric tools, ethical practice, and multidisciplinary collaboration. India also co-facilitates a neurodivergent youth support group and has presented on ADHD and Autism in tertiary education settings, reflecting her ongoing commitment to inclusive, evidence-based practice.
